( Here’s a post from the archives. Still right here today, prodded by God to tell the whole truth in my life for his glory. Fall for me means kids in school, speaking engagements, writing assignments, and the continual journey towards publication of my memoir. This old post encouraged me today. I hope it does something for you, too.) Telling the whole truth These last two weeks, I actually sensed God’s desire for me to

Setting a fly free, a special needs mom attempts to let herself off the hook in her struggles with parenting When a special needs parent struggles, sometimes all they can do is hold on. Because their children are worth it. I sit here on Wednesday morning, second cup of coffee in hand, greasy hair, same yoga pants from yesterday, Polly and Evangeline (who both have Down syndrome) watch Angelina Ballerina for the umpteenth time in their

LOVE This. I hope this post encourages others to tell the truth, the whole truth, nothing but the truth….unfortunately many in our society can’t handle the truth.
“Share all of you, Gillian. Because in the hard parts, in the times you made bad choices, in your brokenness and lack of faith, I was there. And that’s MY story in you.”
The above is the best I have seen in a while. If you don’t mind I may paraphrase this in a post I have planned. Giving credit of course 😉
Of course! 🙂
You are an amazing woman Gill! Some people believe there are “tabu” experiences only because they were taught that way. Sharing the truth will set your broken heart free of so much hurt! Yeah you:•)
Thank you so much for your kind words, Kim. Writing about this is SO cathartic :).
dear gillian, your willingness to put your SELF ‘out there’ IS daunting, but wonderfully inspiring. so many of us do not acknowledge or realize how stressful life CAN be when raising a child with a developmental disability. you are sharing tools, and from a Christian Perspective…a needed area to be addressed. keep it up girl…you are amazing…with love and prayers…..grace
Thank you, sister.
Yes ma’am. Amen and Amen. I believe in this with my whole heart, but when it comes to actually putting myself out there? That’s when it gets scary. Electricity, sweating and all of it. (deep breaths)
My friend sent me this link last night… profanity warning! But it’s well worth the read, about telling the truth and being authentically yourself in your writing, from Dear Sugar: http://therumpus.net/2011/08/dear-sugar-the-rumpus-advice-column-82-the-god-of-doing-it-anyway/
Thanks lady. Will check it out. prayers for your trip :).
Beautiful. As always.
Thank you Dianne.
You are amazing. This was beautiful. Thank you for being you once again. We all need to tell the whole truth because we are all Broken. What an inspiration you are to so many.
Back at ya, Holly. Thanks.
